AP Moller-Maersk is accelerating its efforts to decarbonize its maritime operations by promoting initiatives to encourage green fuels in the shipping industry.
Just a few hours ago the news came out that world’s largest ammonia producer , U.S.-based CF Industries, is to become a strategic partner of the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping. It’s an independent non-profit research and development center that works in industries, organizations, research areas and regulatory authorities to accelerate the development and implementation of new energy systems and technologies.
According to the research center’s CEO, Bo Cerup-Simonsen, a new partner with decades of experience in the field of global decarbonization, will strengthen their ability to work toward furthering the deployment of low-emission ammonia as a fuel in the shipping industry.
Tony Will, president and CEO of CF Industries believes that ammonia will have an important role to play in the world’s transition to clean energy.
