Work begins on the construction of a fourth berth

DP World ups its London Gateway

by Port News Editorial Staff

DP World has  announced that  it has begun work on upgrading its London gateway facility.

The terminal operator plans to build a new berth, the fourth at the facility, in five years. The $387 million project will employ 1,000 people and enable the logistics hub to increase the volume of containers it handles each year by a third.

Last year, London Gateway handled 1.8 million TEUs. DP World forecasts that within ten years, the facility will handle a third of all the UK’s containerized trade.
