Reduced tariffs for people bringing new traffic

Singapore, discounts for car carriers

by Port News Editorial Staff

Singapore Port Authority has updated its discount scheme for car carriers calling at the port.

According to the new tariff system, due to  come into force in the new year, there will be a 5% discount on port dues for vessels transporting less than 10,000 vehicles per year, if they guarantee a 5% growth in their transhipment activities compared to  the 2020-2022 two-year period.

For ships bringing between 10,000 and 200,000 vehicles per year, the city-state will provide a 10% discount on port dues if they can increase their transhipment activity by 2%. If they cannot achieve the 2% growth, a 5% discount on port dues will be applied.

For vessels transporting over 200,000 vehicles per year to  Singapore, a 10% discount on port dues will be given if they can increase their transhipment business by any amount. Otherwise, they will be given a 5% port fee reduction.

The preferential tariff scheme was first introduced in 2005 and was designed to encourage the growth of vehicle loading and unloading activities in the Port of Singapore.
