Congestion in the Panama Canal is set to worsen over the next two months, according to consulting firm Linerlytica.
At the end of last week there were 22 vessels, totaling 190,000 TEUs, waiting to transit the shipping lane: the highest number to date.
As of next February, the maximum number of daily transits allowed will be further reduced from the current 32 to 18. In total, no more than 5 daily and 35 weekly transits will be allowed for neo-panamax vessels.
