TDT, Grimaldi takeover imminent

by Port News Editorial Staff

The Grimaldi group is reportedly one step away from taking over 100% of the Terminal Darsena Toscana company, which, until recently, was apparently to be sold to MSC. The acquisition will be done through Infravia and Capital investment funds.

This was disclosed by the specialized periodical www.shippingitaly.it, which said it had been in contact with ‘sources close’ to the Naples-based shipping company.

The deal is expected to be worth around €150 million, the same amount MSC had put up last year, before negotiations foundered due to the anti-trust authority’s findings.

“According to the well-informed,” writes Nicola Capuzzo, “in the future TDT will certainly be largely dedicated to Grimaldi’s ro-ro and ro-pax traffic, but it will still continue to operate  as a third-party container terminal (probably through an even closer partnership between the Grimaldi family and Giulio Schenone, who is still a shareholder with a 5% stake in GIP).
