Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has ordered 3 post-panamax bulk carriers from Japanese Nihon Shipyard.
The 92,000-tonne bulkers will be able to run on methanol. They are to be designed to carry coal in particular.
They are part of the ‘Corona’ series of coal carriers, characterized by a wide hull width and shallow draught. Due to their characteristics, the newbuildings will offer the most suitable dimensions for easy access to thermal power station ports to unload their cargoes.
The new vessels will contribute to a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions.
