Red Sea crisis

CMA CGM reroutes its NEMO service

by Port News Editorial Staff

CMA CGM has announced that its Nemo service currently passing through the Suez Canal will be rerouted around Africa.

The service links Northern Europe and the Mediterranean to Australia and is part of a vessel sharing agreement with MSC.

In a press release, the French company said that, due to the recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea region, CMA CGM would be adopting emergency measures for several of its services that usually pass through the Suez Canal in order to ensure the safety of its vessels and their crews sailing in these waters.  CMA CGM said its Nemo service would temporarily stop crossing the Suez Canal and go via the Cape of Good Hope, in both directions.

The service will now observe the following rotation: London Gateway > Rotterdam > Hamburg > Antwerp > Le Havre > Valencia > La Spezia > Fos Sur Mer > Cape of Good Hope > Pointe des Galets > Port Louis > Sydney > Melbourne > Adelaide > Fremantle > Singapore > Ennore > Colombo > Cape of Good Hope > London Gateway.
