Drewry’s latest report points out that freight rates on the spot market fell by an average of 3% on the previous week to $2929 per 40ft container .
Drewry’s index, which analyses box freight rates on eight major routes to and from the US, Europe and Asia, is still 106% above 2019 levels ($1420).
Freight rates from Shanghai to New York dropped 6%, to $5,058/FEU. Similarly, freight rates from New York to Rotterdam and Shanghai to Los Angeles were down 3%, to $637 and $3,825 per 40-foot container, respectively.
Tariffs from Shanghai to Rotterdam, Rotterdam to Shanghai and Shanghai to Genoa also fell by 2% to $3,159, $814 and $3,806 per 40ft box respectively.
In addition, Los Angeles – Shanghai and Rotterdam – New York rates dropped by 1% to $691 and $2,261 per FEU respectively.
