The US is intensifying its efforts to crack down on networks and contacts that facilitate the supply of weapons and funding to Houthi militants.
Recently, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced that it had sanctioned an oil tanker flying the Cameroonian flag , operated by Stellar Wave Marine.
The accusation levelled at the ship and its captain is that at the end of May, they had loaded goods worth tens of millions of dollars linked to Sa’id al-Jamal, suspected of being one of the financiers and supporters of the Yemeni rebels.
According to Lloyd’s List, the vessel’s tracking data show that the 105,856 dwt tanker, built in 2000, called at the Iraqi port of Khor al Zubair on 23rd May after having been at anchor in the port of Sohar in Oman for four days. The ship is currently transiting through the Strait of Malacca and is expected to arrive in Singapore on 20th June.
