After the European Union, Canada and Great Britain, the United States of America has also decided to ban Russian ships.
As of April 28th, ships flying the Russian flag or operated by Russian companies will no longer be allowed to berth in any U.S. port.
According to Reuters, in 2021 Russian vessels called at US ports 1800 times i.e. just under 3% of all traffic handled.
According to Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the new measure will affect 460 Russian merchant vessels, including 160 tankers owned by Sovcomflot.
