Container freight rates fell another four percentage points this week to an average of $2168/ FEU, following a negative downtrend that has continued since 9th January.
Falling the most this week were the Rotterdam – New York rates , down 7%, to $2162 per FEU, and Shanghai – Los Angeles tariffs, down 6%, to $2487 /FEU.
Shanghai – Rotterdam rates (down to $2370/FEU) and Shanghai – New York (down to $3622/ FEU) both dropped 4%. Shanghai – Genoa tariffs fell 3%, to $3171 /FEU.
On the other hand, Rotterdam – Shanghai freight rates closed the week with a 3% increase, up to $500/FEU. Similarly, Los Angeles – Shanghai rates were up 1% on last week, to $709/FEU.
Freight rates on services between New York and Rotterdam remain stable.
