The Houthis have claimed to have targeted the Groton, a 2,500 TEU containership, over the weekend.
The vessel was 225 km south-east of Aden when it was hit by a missile.
No fires, water or oil leaks have been reported. The crew members were unharmed. The boxship has been rerouted to a safe port to investigate any potential damage.
