Bulk carriers collide in China

Collision between two ships in China. The vessels collided bow to bow while sailing along the Yangtze River.

The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Bulk Shenzhen, carrying 103,655 tonnes of iron ore, was on its way to Jinangyin when it collided with another bulker, the RB British Marine RB Lisa, resulting in steel damage in the bow area above the waterline.

The RB Lisa sustained some damage portside, above the waterline.

The Bulk Shenzhen is now anchored in a safe position on the Yangtze for further investigation and formalities regarding the dynamics of the accident.

No deaths, injuries, pollution or other environmental damage have been reported.
