The three-phase ceasefire between Hamas and Israel over the last few days does not seem to have convinced the big carriers to stop being cautious.
In a customer update, CMA CGM states that it will continue, at least for the time being, to prioritize alternative routes to the Red Sea one, relying significantly on sailing around the Cape of Good Hope.
Although the ceasefire is a significant step towards the easing of tension between the parties involved, the French shipping line’s “utmost priority ” continues to be the safety of their seafarers, vessels and their customers’ cargo.
Nevertheless, they leave their options open: “While this approach applies to the majority of our network, adjustments may be made on a case-by-case basis depending on security and global operational conditions.”
“We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed of any updates,” CMA CGM concludes.
