CMA CGM has ordered eight more dual-fuel containerships, also capable of running on methanol.
The eight new vessels are to be added to the other 24 methanol-fuel ready vessels ordered in April and January this year: Twelve 15,000 TEU boxships have been commissioned from two Chinese shipyards owned by the state-owned China State Shipbuilding Corp, while the construction of another dozen 13,000 TEU capacity vessels has been ordered from South Korean Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
The eight new 9,200 TEU capacity ships will be built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. The deal is worth 1 billion dollars.
