CMA CGM submits bid for Air Belgium

by Port News Editorial Staff

CMA CGM submitted an offer to take over Air Belgium’s cargo operations.

Last year, the airline had been put into compulsory liquidation by the Walloon court, which had set a four-month timeframe to find a buyer.

Over the last few weeks, the Walloon court had ruled against the acquisition of the company by Air One Belgium group, consisting of PESO Aviation Management and Air One Holding International. The buyer has in fact filed an appeal, contesting the Court’s decision.

This was when CMA CGM made the decision to acquire Air Belgium

The group led by Rodolphe Saadé launched its air cargo business in March 2021. It currently operates four cargo planes, with two more joining the fleet this year.

From 2026, CMA CGM Air Cargo will boost its capacity with eight new-generation A350 cargo aircraft.
