CMA CGM has fallen victim to a new hacker attack a year after the last breach took down its servers for a fortnight.
The shipping company itself informed its customers, adding that it had suffered a leak of confidential information. A total of 499,000 records including names, employers, emails and phone numbers were allegedly stolen.
The hackers demanded a ransom for not disclosing this information, but the company refused to negotiate. To its customers, CMA stressed that it had already developed a security patch for the surveillance of all Application Programming Interfaces.
In September 2020, the liner fell victim to a similar attack. On that occasion, hackers used the Ragnar Locker ransomware to disable the company’s website services.
