The aftermath of the railway accident in Parma

Intermodal traffic suspended

by Port News Editorial Staff

The railway disaster on 11th July in Parma, when two wagons of a goods train derailed, has temporarily disrupted rail traffic on the Bologna-Piacenza line, with serious repercussions on intermodal transport to the ports of Genoa, Livorno and La Spezia.

In a note sent to its customers, the French shipping company CMA CGM announced that due to the unforeseen interruption of the rail link in the Emilia area, it has been obliged to suspend, with immediate effect and until further notice, all rail-truck carrier haulage transports to the three ports of call, offering, as an alternative, all-truck transport at the current transport tariff.
