The Dali boxship is to go to China for further repairs. The vessel is owned by Singaporean Grace Ocean (a local subsidiary of Mitsui&Co.) and operated by Danish shipping company Maersk. On March 26th it had hit a pylon on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. This led to the immediate collapse of the over 2.5-kilometer-long bridge and a fire aboard the ship.
The vessel is reportedly about to leave the shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia. In two weeks’ time it will head for a Chinese shipyard for further essential repair work: there is talk of it possibly getting a brand-new bow.
