Starting next week, a new container line is to link up the port of Livorno with the United States. The Medgulf service, previously operated by MSC at the port of La Spezia has been re-routed to Livorno due to some new infrastructure work at the Ligurian port.
The service will call at both Terminal Darsena Toscana and Terminal Lorenzini, bringing 80,000 TEUs a year to the port of Livorno.
This is an important addition to the traffic turnover generated by the calls announced over the last few months by the Gemini alliance (Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd), by Hapag-Lloyd itself, i.e. the ‘Tex’ (Turkey East Coast Express) service, and by the ZIM company.
