MOL Turkey opens online store

by Port News Editorial Staff

MITSUI OSK Lines is launching an e-commerce business for selling second-hand  ship equipment from vessel demolition yards.

The initiative will be piloted in Turkey. The goal is to promote recycling and reduce wastage of used ship equipment. The e-commerce site will primarily sell antiques although, in the future, the company is planning to expand their selection with larger items, such as lifeboats and other equipment.

In a press release the company said that its decision to enter   the e-commerce business further strengthens MOL’s Turkish-based group’s operations in line with its regional strategy.

In addition, by taking into consideration shipbreaking yards around the world, particularly in nations such as India and Bangladesh, where huge numbers of ships are dismantled, the group aims to globally expand its  activities beyond shipping.
