by Port News Editorial Staff

Today MSC announced  the routes it will operate independently from February 2025, when  its divorce from Maersk becomes effective. Maersk is merging into the new Gemini alliance with Hapag Lloyd.

The Standalone network consists of 5 trades, with 34 loops, including 7 from Asia to Northern Europe, 6 from Asia to the Mediterranean, 10 Asia- U.S ones , and another 11 for the transatlantic network.

The company presented two possible service options for these routes, around the  Cape of Good Hope or Suez Canal sailings.

Italy is included in four of the six link  services in the Asia- Med trade. Services that have different rotations depending on which of the two options is chosen.

Genoa, La Spezia and Trieste  are the three Italian ports MSC will call at in the Dragon, Jade, Phoeniz and Lynx services. Click here for details

MSC CEO Soren Toft, said that from next February “As we assume full operational control of our network, we can today offer clients both Suez and Cape of Good Hope routing options. This announcement represents an important milestone in the evolution of our global network and the vision of MSC’s founding family.”
