Minority stake in a Jakarta port terminal

ONE, new investments in Indonesia

by Port News Editorial Staff

OCEAN Network Express has bought a minority stake in the new Priok Container Terminal 1 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Built in 2016, the terminal can accommodate mega boxships thanks to its deep draughts. It can handle up to 1.5 million TEUs a year.

“A stake in this terminal ensures access to capacity in a key gateway and supports our growth ambitions,” stated Hiroki Tsujii, Global Chief Officer of ONE’s Product & Network Division.

This is not the first investment by the Japanese shipping company over the last few years. Last November, ONE bought a majority stake in the TraPac and Yusen terminals in the ports of Los Angeles and Oakland, California.

The carrier acquired 20% of Rotterdam World Gateway.
