ORIENT Overseas Container Line, part of Cosco Shipping, has signed an agreement with Seaspan for the long-term (15-year) chartering of six new 13,580 TEU containerships, currently on order at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
Seaspan expects to take delivery of the first two vessels around Q4 2026, followed by two more in Q1 2027 and the last two in Q1 2028.
According to Lloyd’s List, OOCL will pay Seaspan up to $1.6 billion for chartering all six ships.
