Draft levels & maximum daily transits increased

Panama Canal back to business

by Port News Editorial Staff

Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has increased the maximum draught consented for ships transiting through the neopanamax locks by 30cm  to 14.94 metres,

Moreover, as of Monday up to 35 daily transits will be allowed, wich is to increase to 36 next month.

This is due to the improved water level in the Gatun reservoir, which now stands at 85 feet (2.5 metres), well above the 79.6 feet recorded last August and the previous five-year average of 83.9 feet.
