First aid service convention renewed

Piombino ups its port & beach safety

by Port News Editorial Staff

The North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority (PNA) has renewed the convention  with  Piombino Emergency Rescue Associations to ensure an ambulance and two expert operators are present in the port every weekend during the summer season.

The agreement with the local Red Cross, Misericordia Ambulance service  and Public Assistance associations was signed a few days ago at  the former Piombino Port Authority headquarters.

The service is organized in such a way as to offer rapid response in the event of accidents and incidents. It includes not only the port area but also the public beaches under the PNA’s jurisdiction including the ‘Spiaggia del Quagliodromo’, where the rescue service will be guaranteed on all weekends in June and July, and 24/7  from   July 19th to September 1st.

Moreover, the Authority has recently carried out major special maintenance work along the entire shoreline in the Quagliodromo area. The coast road which runs parallel to it is due to be asphalted over the next few days.

President Guerrieri confirmed that “any measure to  improve the safety of our port operators and, in general, anybody transiting in our ports and areas, is and always will be a priority  for our PNA, I would also like to thank our staff for their proactive approach, always paying their utmost attention.”

Lastly, Mr. Guerrieri stressed the importance of cooperation with third-sector associations: “For us it is fundamental. It is also a sign of recognition for everything  they do for our community.”
