PSA Corporation joins the Silk Alliance, a heterogeneous group of players led by the Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonization Hub and established with the aim of developing a fuel transition strategy for the container fleet operating in Singapore and the Asian region.
Eleven stakeholders are currently part of this alliance: ship owners such as MSC Shipmanagement Ltd, Pacific International Lines (Pte) Ltd (PIL), Wan Hai Lines, X-Press Feeders, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp; the shipyard of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M); the bunker logistics provider, Singfar International; engine manufacturers such as Wärtsilä; ship manager Wilhelmsen Ship Management; and financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and ING.
The Silk Alliance is named after the maritime section of the historic Silk Road, which linked South-East Asia to China, the Indian subcontinent and the Arabian Peninsula. Today, its members are engaged in an attempt to develop tangible actions along this route to create a ‘Green Corridor Cluster.’
According to a press release, “the inclusion of PSA, the Silk Alliance will benefit from an even broader range of in-depth maritime expertise to promote industry collaboration and create a green corridor cluster in Singapore and the wider Asian region.”
PSA is a fully-owned subsidiary of PSA International Pte Ltd, one of the world’s leading port groups. The PSA Group’s global network comprises 160 locations in 42 countries worldwide. The Group’s portfolio includes over 60 deepwater, rail and inland terminals, as well as affiliated activities in supply chain management, logistics, maritime and digital services, which play a crucial role in the development of a responsible and sustainable maritime industry.
