Saipem has been awarded an offshore EPC contract by QatarEnergy LNG for the combined COMP3A & COMP3B packages of the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Program project. The project is designed to support the production of the North Field offshore natural gas field, off Qatar’s north-eastern coast.
The Italian company disclosed the news in a press release specifying that the contract was worth around $4 billion.
Saipem is to see to the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of 6 platforms, about 100 km of 24- and 28-inch diameter rigid anti-corrosion alloy underwater pipelines, 100 km of composite underwater cables, 150 km of fiber optic cables, and several other underwater installations.
“This important contract follows the EPC package for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Complexes Project – [COMP 2], awarded to Saipem in October 2022 and currently being executed,” Saipem explains, adding that ” this project further consolidates Saipem’s position and track record in Qatar.”
