According to its national shipbuilding association China is dominating the global shipbuilding market. In the first quarter of 2024, Beijing’s shipyards secured 70% of the global orderbook, with 24.1 million tonnes of orders, a year-on-year growth of 59%.
With the latest orders placed in 2024, China’s total orderbook has skyrocketed to 154 million tonnes, up 34.5% year-on-year.
