Morocco – Phase 2 of the expansion project at APM Terminals Tangier MedPort has been completed.
The expansion covers 18 hectares, with 7 additional container stacks and an additional 400-metre berth. In the forthcoming phase 3 the terminal will increase its total capacity by a further one million TEUs.
The new phase 2 equipment includes 14 automated electric rail-mounted gantry cranes and 11 semi-automatic Kalmar hybrid shuttles for high productivity and reducing CO2 emissions.
The port of TangierMed, where APM Terminals operates two container terminals, was ranked fourth in the list of the world’s most efficient ports, published in June this year by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence.
