The Mumbai Maersk, the 20,000 TEU boxship that ran aground off Germany’s Wangerooge Island in the North Sea last Wednesday, has been set free.

The second attempt to tow the ship has been  successful. The 178-tonne tug Union Sovereign, the 113-tonne multipurpose vessel, the Neuwerk,  and six other tugs were used to carry out the operation.

The ship, 399 meters long and 59 meters wide, will now be able to resume its journey to Bremerhaven.
