A bulk carrier owned by US-listed Genco Shipping was hit by a missile on Wednesday while in the Gulf of Aden.
The Genco Picardy was transporting a cargo of rock phosphate and was heading south of the Red Sea when it was targeted by the Houthis. Shortly afterwards they claimed they were responsible for the attack, stating in a press release that “the naval forces will not hesitate to target all sources of threat in the Red and Arabian sea within the legitimate right to defend Yemen and to continue supporting the oppressed Palestinian people.”
The vessel did not suffer any serious damage and its crewmembers were unharmed.
