Wan Hai Lines and Ocean Network Express have signed a slot-sharing agreement on the transpacific trade lane, launching a direct service from East China to the west coast of the US.
The agreement between the two Taiwanese and Japanese carriers stipulates that on that service, christened PS6, they will share a certain number of slots on their ships.
The operation responds to the need to meet the growing freight shipping demand along transpacific routes.
PS6 will have the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Long Beach, Oakland and then Shanghai and Ningbo again.
The service is set to start next February.
