A baptism of fire for the launch of the new link services operated by the Gemini Alliance (a Maersk- Hapag Lloyd partnership) in Livorno.
Yesterday morning, at 7.30 a.m., the Maersk Northwood, a vessel employed on the weekly West Med Shuttle (WM3) service, berthed at Terminal Darsena Toscana (TDT).
Upon completing its operations, after having carried out 1055 manoeuvres, the ship left TDT continuing its journey on its Tanger Med – Algeciras – Livorno – La Spezia – Tanger Med rotation.
WM3 is the first of two new services operated by Maersk and Hapag Lloyd that will call at Livorno port. By the end of February, the TEX service is also due to start. This service will call at Livorno with a direct link between the United States and the East Med.
The Grimaldi Group, which operates Terminal Darsena Toscana, forecasts that the container volumes handled by TDT will increase by 7-to-10 percent in 2025.
