First quarter closed

ZIM’s record 1st quarter revenues

by Port News Editorial Staff

In the first three months of the year, ZIM’s  revenues totaled $3.72 billion, 113.1% more compared to the same period in 2021.

The significant increase in turnover can be attributed to the rise in freight rates, which averaged at  $3848/TEU (+99.9%) in the first quarter of 2022

Of the total revenue, 3.30 billion (+110.0%) was directly from containerized shipping activities, 1.72 billion of which was from transpacific maritime services (+112.4%), 597 million from intra-Asian services (+91.3%), 472.7 million from Asia-Europe shipping lines (+133.4%), 329.8 million from transatlantic services (+106.7%), and $179.7 million from services with Latin America (+105.5%).

In the first three months of this year, the company’s fleet transported a total of 859 thousand TEUs  of containerized  cargo, up 5% on last year’s Q1.
